Wouldn't you want a view of this when in Kuala Lumpur? |

Last
week I was cleaning out my laptop after a really long time (read years) and
that is when I found this long-lost post! Been debating the entire week if I
should post it or not, given I wrote this article almost 2 years back. But two
days back a friend of mine contacted me to get some information about Kuala
Lumpur and she asked for staying options in the city. Talk about signs right!
Hence, I finally decided to post this, and here it is!
Seri Pacific Kuala Lumpur
When
you visit famous cities with famous landmarks, you would either want to stay at
the landmark, if possible, or with a spectacular view of the landmark, right? But
with the view, you do have to pay a ‘view tariff’ that is atleast 5% more than
a standard no-view room. Unfortunately, the wish to have a view gets really
heavy on a budget traveler's pocket. But what if I told you there are plenty of
budget (mostly mid-range) staying options in Kuala Lumpur that not only give
you a view of the Petronas Towers (which by the way are constantly looking over
you no matter where you go in the town) but these staying experiences also let
you have a taste of luxury!
During
my visit to Kuala Lumpur, courtesy Malaysia Tourism, I got to stay at one such
place – Seri Pacific! Located in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Seri Pacific is a 560
room 5-star business hotel that surprisingly costs only 50-60 USD per night. Apart
from being a reasonably priced hotel, Seri Pacific is also conveniently located
about 20 mins away from both KL tower and Petronas Towers. And also, there is a
link rail station right next to the hotel, which makes getting around the city very
convenient.
Room Options: - Seri Pacific offers a 3 kinds of room, split
in club and non-club rooms which are basically hardwood and carpeted rooms
specifically. The three kinds are Superior, Deluxe and Suites which either have
a view of the Petronas Towers, the KL tower or the Putra World trade Center.
During my stay I got to stay in a 23rd floor Twin Deluxe room facing
the twin towers. The room itself was very clean, spacious, and had all the
amenities like mini bar, iron, coffee machine, wifi and best of all in room international
calling facility!
|
Hotel interiors! |
Other amenities: - I had complimentary breakfast with the stay
and man, was that a feast! The breakfast is provided in Zende Café, which is an
all-day dining space in the hotel. Zende presents a plethora of continental and
Asian dishes for each of its meal so, if you are worried about missing out on
the Malaysian cuisine experience, don’t! On my first day in KL itself, I got to
taste the Indian, Malay and Chinese influence on the native cuisine, thanks for
Zende’s breakfast buffet.
|
The spread!! |
If
you want to get more of each cuisine than what is offered at Zende, the hotel
has 6 more cafes and a lounge for you to explore.
|
I was full, but I could not stop. *Blame the sweet tooth* |
Apart
from dining, Seri Pacific has a beautiful spa, the Tirta Spa, to take away all
your travel tiredness; a decent sized swimming pool, so needed after roaming
around KL under the hot tropical sun; a business center, a gym and a flower
shop too! And if you need to shop, and don’t want to travel much, the Sunway
Putra Mall is right outside!
|
Room and the view. |
Believe it or not, you can literally walk
down to either of these sites from the hotel, thus saving on local transportation
cost. And shopaholics, worry not, the minute you exit from the hotel, Dataran
Pahlawan Melaka Megamall you lure you in then and there!
Room Options: - Equatorial offers seven different types of
room options offer perfect comfort and take care of your needs, whether you are
travelling for business or leisure. I was put up in a premier room on the 15th
floor during my two day visit to this beautiful UNESCO world heritage site (you
can read
more about Melaka here).
The room had a view of the swimming pool and was
decorated with roses throughout! And the room was just perfect to unwind after
a long day of walking around, thanks to the bathtub in the room, comfortable
slippers and bath robes, coffee, TV and high-speed password protected internet.
Well you get the picture.
|
Eat a little bit healthy? |
Other Amenities: - With the extravagant range of restaurants that
Equatorial, you can explore local and international cuisines without even
stepping out of the hotel. Equatorial flaunts five amazing restaurants, one of
which lets you get lost in the rich heritage of Peranakan cuisine.
|
Or enjoy something Peranakan |
The
breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet are spread out at Resthouse Café and it is
all worth paying for, since unfortunately none of it is complimentary.
|
Rest and eat at Resthouse Cafe |
Apart
from that, like I mentioned earlier, the hotel has a big and pretty pool,
sauna, gym and tennis court. Though unfortunately due to my short stay, I didn’t
really get to try out any of these facilities.
|
Till date best ever strawberry danishes I have had were from here. |
And
that is it. For both the Hotels I would give a 5-star rating! I am so grateful
to Malaysia Tourism for my travel, stay and the unforgettable experience.
P.S
– Since, I try to avoid taking pictures with people in them (without taking
their permission) and it was sort of impossible to get people out of all my
intended frames, there is an acute dearth of pictures in this post and some of the pictures are taken directly from the hotels’ sites
– here and here. Also, thanks to my fellow travelers Ragini Puri and Manjulika Pramod for lending me some of their pictures for the post.
Fantastic images & post.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteBoth of this Seriously Pacific and Equatorial Hotel are such a steal! I usually paid more than that for great room view, location and facilities. Not to forget the breakfast spread too! Thanks for sharing this. I will definitely check these hotels on my next visit to Kuala Lumpur and Melaka
ReplyDeleteI have paid more that that for very very mediocre hotels here in USA. These hotels seemed like such lucky hits. :D
DeleteWhat a great value hotel - I love that view of the petronas towers and I don't you'll find a 5* hotel in a major city anywhere else in the world at that price!
ReplyDeleteI know right!!!
DeleteWe’ve been planning for a trip to Kuala Lumpur too and this is really a great time to have read this! Good on you for publishing this! :D
ReplyDeleteLove that the Seri Pacific KL isn’t very expensive and that its location is very convenient. Plus the view of the Petronas Tower is a good thing too!
Woah! Glad I decided to post this then. Hope the post helped you with your trip planning :)
DeleteThat first hotel sounds like a bargain and the second hotel is so well positioned. I particularly love the food in the Equatorial. What amazing beautifully presented food. I would definitely think of staying here if I was ever in the city
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are very well placed! And yes the food in Equatorial really does give you the flavor of Malaysia :D
DeleteI can't believe that it took you 2 years to publish this great article. I am glad that you decided to post it. I have never been to Malysia, but we are planing to visit in the next year. Seri Pacific Kuala Lumpur looks beautiful and as you said it is not expensive.
ReplyDeleteHope this post helps you with your planning. So glad I finally posted it and it actually turned out to be helpful :D
DeleteI usually find that even the 5-star hotels are pretty affordable in many places in Asia. I like to choose a luxury hotel really central to the sights I want to visit though. Especially if KL traffic is anything like other places in Asia. You can waste so much time just sitting in traffic to get around.
ReplyDeleteTraffic is bad in almost all places in India unfortunately, but like you said - finding an affordable and luxury place solves a lot of issues :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful and comfortable hotel. I loved the simple interiors and the food spread they offer. Your shots make me feel so hungry. I am guessing that the location too, is perfect for this hotel. Seems central enough
ReplyDeleteBoth are very central and the food was so so good at both the places!
DeleteFirstly, wow - very impressed with the affordability of Seri Pacific! I'd definitely spend most of my time in the spa, haha! Hotel Equatorial Melaka also sounds so magical, with delicious looking food
ReplyDeleteHaha, I didn't really try the Spa, but given everything else was amazing at Seri Pacific, I can confidently say you would love it there :D
DeleteSeri Pacific is good. But what impresses us most about 5 stars hotels in Malaysia is the food. Most have an amazing array for breakfast that you just don't want to leave.
ReplyDeleteWow, nice post about Luxury Brand of Hotel in Malaysia. Malaysia has many mid-range to budget hotels also which provide good accommodation at affordable prices. These hotels may not have a swanking lobby or huge in-house stores, but they too provide great rooms and most of them have room service and other facilities. A few days ago, I had gone there & booked the luxury hotel for me from Ambong-ambong.com, who provides a group of cottages, suites and pool villas set amidst a tropical forest.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such beautiful information with us. I hope you will share some more information and Please keep sharing.
